Two Nigerian authors seem to have found a perfect
way to keep ex-president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
living forever. The duo who teamed up shortly
after the elections to carryout this daunting task
said they were undertaking the project to applaud
the former president’s heroic feats.
Ex-President Jonathan To Be Immortalized In July
Former president Goodluck Jonathan
By the 21st of July, a book in honour of Jonathan’
will be released. The book is titled: “The New Face
of African Democracy.”
This project was executed by Mr Ayo George and
Dayo Taiwo both of who agree that the just
unseated president deserves a plethora of
accolades.
Mr. Jonathan’s ambition for a second tenure in
office was cut short at the presidential polls by
General Muhammadu Buhari the All Progressive
Congress (APC) candidate, but that loss seem in no
way to have done much of a damage to his
personality.
According to reports by Premium Times, Mr.
George told journalists in Lagos on Sunday that he
was super excited at the prospect of releasing a
book written about a former president.
He said they had started writing the book long
before the elections, because they felt Dr.
Goodluck needed to be celebrated regardless if he
won or lost the elections. He added though, that
when president Jonathan lost, they felt a greater
need to complete the book. This Mr George stated
to make it categorically clear that the book wasn’t
meant to patronize Dr Ebele Jonathan in the first
place.
Mr George went on to say that Africa must begin
to write her own stories. He was of the opinion
that African children must read about the great
men of the black race; one of such men being Dr.
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
“He is presently being suggested for the Nobel
Peace prize, and our plans for the promotion of
this book is part of that suggestion.” Mr George
added.
In agreement with all Mr Ayo George said, Mr.
Taiwo, the co-author further revealed that a 30-
day countdown to the official release would begin
by the 22nd of June, and by July 21, the book
would be released on various platforms across the
world. He added that the 30-day countdown was
going to be very exciting, involving a lot of social
media hype and razzmatazz all through the dates.
He didn’t forget to add that so much was up their
sleeves as regards giving the book a firm presence
especially across Africa, arguing that regardless of
the varied opinions of Nigerians, the public would
generally agree that the former president needs
to be celebrated, hence the need to release the
book.
Goodluck Jonathan seems to have written his name
in gold, with the major role he played in the
peaceful transition after losing out in the last
election.
The former president has been lauded by the local
and foreign media for that historic phone call that
conceded defeat in the 2015 presidential elections.
To many, he has become an icon of peace and a
beacon of hope for a better future, not only for
Nigeria, but indeed Africa as a whole.
