Suspected militants have attacked a gas pipeline at Ogijo community in Ogun state. According to residents of the community, some men who disguised as officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), came into their community on Tuesday July 12th pretending to carry out repairs on the gas pipeline. After they left, a loud explosion was heard from the gas pipeline later at night, causing members of the community to run for safety.
The affected pipeline is said to serve an 11.4 distribution line for some companies in Ikorodu, Lagos state. Commenting on the attack, the divisional police officer (DPO) of Ogijo police station, Mohammed Tijani, said investigation into the attack is ongoing.
