See The Goat Named After Former President Goodluck Jonathan During The Presidential Election (Photo)

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan of the PDP who presided over the country’s affairs for approximately 6 years can be safely regarded as one of the most abused and tolerant leader Nigeria ever had with the recent developments surrounding the new administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The controversial goat named after President Jonathan

The plight of Mr. Joe Chinakwe, 30 in the hands of the Ogun State Police Command as well as the court of law in the South-western state has been linked to the alleged dictatorial style of ruling of the All Progressives Congress-led regime of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr. Chinakwe was caught in a web of constitutional brouhaha when he named his dog ‘Buhari’ after the Nigerian President as a result of his admiration of the 73-year old leader who has been accused of showing intolerance for opposition.

Mr. Chinakwe, a native of the South-eastern part of Nigeria unprecedently hit the headlines after his neighbour from Sokoto State accused him of christening the pet animal ‘Buhari’ – his family name to taunt him.

Ambitious police officers swooped in on Mr. Chinakwe for attempting to breach ‘public peace’ and charged him to court to face charges. He has been remanded in prison pending on when he will meet his bail conditions set by the court.

This event that may be taking place without the knowledge of Buhari has prompted Nigerians to reflect on the past and make comparisons with the present administration of ‘change’.

During the heat of the 2015 presidential election, a Nigerian named his black goat ‘Jonathan’ – the former President with a tag on its neck as it was paraded publicly. The picture showing the owner’s face went viral but no action was taken by the police force.

Fastfoward to 2016, Mr. Chinakwe is standing trial for an allegation that is not recognized under the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria according to the clarifications made by prominent lawyers.
